Located about 2,5 hour drive South of Manila, Tagaytay Ridge at 2,250 ft. above sea level offers a panoramic view of Taal Volcano (weather permitting). Taal
Volcano is considered to be the smallest & lowest volcano in the world. Sitting serenely on Taal Lake, the volcano offers a deceptive
sight, considering the violent history of past eruptions. On the way to the ridge, drive by fruit stalls and visit the famous Bamboo Organ of the Las Piñas Church (the only one of its kind in the world). |
|
Drive down the winding road until Talisay, Batangas. There we board a motorized outrigger boat to
Taal Volcano Island 30 minutes away. Walk up the soft black lava sand (or pay for a horse) to the rim of the crater to have a close up view of the caldera. Return to the lakeside inn for
a lunch. We advice to bring an extra set of clothes, hat and suntan lotion. |

Two & a half-hours South of Manila is the quaint & historic Villa Escudero. This is an actual coconut plantation set
amidst a pastoral grove of coconut palms, verdant fields and mountains to bring one back to the days of the old plantation life. Highlights
of the tour are the visit to the museum of historic, religious, pre-Hispanic & World War II artifacts. Carabao-drawn
cart transport to man-made waterfalls where lunch is served on tables set over a flowing stream.
Then it’s off to the pools for a refreshing cool swim. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday there's a good cultural show.

|
|
This tour takes you southwards, to the old
town of Pagsanjan. After lunch at a resort, transfer to a dugout canoe for the trip to the falls.
As your boatman starts rowing upstream the sight of lush greenery &
towering cliffs unfolds before you. The first fall is 20 mins away. At the second, main fall (another 25 mins further, not reachable at high water), the water comes from 70 ft above. A bamboo raft will take you underneath this waterfall. Your trip downstream is an exciting experience
as you “shoot the rapids"! Your boatman will skillfully manouver the boat between the rocks & boulders until you reach the calm river of Pagsanjan. |

Mt. Pinatubo has fallen back to sleep, having left spectacular lahar formations. You may choose either to hike up to the craterlake (3 hrs one way) or use the 4x4 jeep nearly all the way up and hike up and down the last 40 minutes only (ow).
