MANILA

Manila is a very big city with an estimated 17 million (!) inhabitants. As the traffic and the pollution are rather bad, most people prefer to use Manila only as a stopover.

Three locations in Metro Manila are possible:

Ermita/Malate – majority of economy hotels. Area where most travelers are staying. In the heart of nightlife (Remedios circle / Nakpil street) , plenty of restaurants.
Rate per room per night ranges from Php 550 to USD 85 (deluxe)

Manila – majority of standard & first class hotels, mostly located in the along Roxas Boulevard.
Rate per room per night ranges from USD 38 (standard) to USD 75 (first class)

In nearby Intramuros most Spanish buildings are still intact including the surrounding wall. Other interesting places to visit are the Chinese Cemetery, Rizal Park and Binondo (China town). Near Rizal Park, along Manila Bay, one can eat while watching sunset.

Makati – business district, majority of renown deluxe hotels.
Rate per room per night ranges from Php 1,800 to USD 200.
